Hello crafty friends!! Today I am sharing my first project for Altenew Education Certification Program All About Layering 1 class. I am so excited to be given the opportunity to be part of this amazing program. I just love Altenew and it’s a dream come true for me. I hope you will follow along with me on my journey.

All About Layering 1 is learning to use layering stamps from Altenew. If you are not familiar with layering stamps it is using multiple stamps (layers) to make one image. Each stamp adds more detail to the image. As I discovered layering stamps come in a variety of sizes and intricacies. I first started with a small floral image. To be honest I struggled getting the layers precise. I switched to a larger image and it was much easier to match up. If you are new to layering I recommend starting with a larger layering image first it’s easier to see for lining up the layers.

I stamped the first layer of the floral image and flipped my paper and stamped the first layer in the opposite corner. I continued this process until all the layers had been stamped. Note: I stamped the layer colours from lightest to darkest. I felt the card needed more so I stamped the vine image but before I could do that I had to mask off part of the flower. I stamped the flower on masking paper and fussy cut it out. If you don’t have masking paper you could use a Post It note. The great thing about masks you can save them and use them again. Once the vine images had been stamped I coloured them with Copic markers. Then I stamped the sentiment with Jet Black ink and added a few sequins for bling.
